• 6500 Series Fixed Picture Window fogging between the panes. The 6500 is a fixed unit with a thermal seal that relies on desiccant inside the spacer. In Boca’s humidity, that desiccant eventually saturates, and then the south-facing glass fogs in the afternoon sun. The fix is a new glass pack, not a new frame, unless the extrusion has pitted through from salt.
• Corrosion at the weep-hole covers and sill track on 7600 Series sliders. Within two blocks of the Intracoastal, we see weep-hole covers that have corroded through and sill tracks packed with salt scale. The water cannot drain, and the frame starts to hold moisture against the glass. We clean, machine, and reseal the track, then replace the covers with powder-coated or stainless pieces.
• 8700 Series Single-Hung balances wearing out and sashes dropping. The 8700 is a workhorse single-hung, but its balance assemblies lose tension over time, especially in sandy, humid air. The sash gets heavy and will not stay up. We install new balance assemblies, often marine-grade aftermarket units that outlast the originals in Boca’s salt air.
